Short windows for small IT buys |
|
| NYC Department of Finance is posting M/WBE Small Purchase expressions of interest for IT work with very short windows. Notices for Active Directory recovery and Checkpoint software support closed on September 25, and an OpenText Exstream maintenance renewal closes October 2. The next ones will move just as fast. |

 | Primes: line up a City-certified M/WBE partner before the notice posts, not after. | | Keep a current capability statement and two or three ready resumes for common roles. | | Make sure your PASSPort profile and commodity codes are up to date, so the notices actually reach you. |

Delivery and vendor oversight are under the microscope |
|
| On August 19 the NYC Comptroller's review of VetConnectNYC described years of technology failures, procurement delays and weak vendor oversight, and called for the portal to be overhauled. The lesson for every agency is the same: the contract matters, but the people on it and how they are managed matter more. |

What to do |
|
| Put oversight into the staffing plan: a named consultant, a weekly written status and clear acceptance points. | | Require documentation and knowledge transfer, so the system never depends on one vendor or one person. | | Ask for the resume and the references of the person who will do the work, not just the firm. |

Make it a weekly habit
Put the Department of Finance procurements page on your calendar for the same day every week. When notices close this fast, a routine beats a lucky find.

Your team's labor record is public |
|
| On September 17 the Comptroller released the 2026 Employer Violations Dashboard, which brings federal, state and city labor-law violations into one searchable place, including some public contractors. |

What to do |
|
| Before teaming, search every subcontractor on the dashboard. | | Ask each partner, including us, for their compliance documents up front. | | Write labor-law compliance into the teaming agreement, so everyone knows the standard before work starts. |
|

|
If a City notice is coming up and you need a partner, tell us early. Planning together beats a last-minute scramble.
